Associate Commodity Manager

Position Description:
At a GlanceLegrand has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Commodity Manager to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in Concord, North Carolina.
The successful candidate will be responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the Company's needs for select production materials, fixed assets and tooling, and indirect materials and services.
These products and services are to be secured at cost, quality, and delivery competitive levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards.
The position is further responsible for cost reduction project management to deliver P&L savings to meet goals established annually.
What Will You Do? Initiates purchase orders and amendments for indirect material (parts, services, supplies, equipment, and special tools).
Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; identifies new potential suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities (excluding PFR).
Works with suppliers to develop effective transportation/logistics solutions, inventory management programs, and lead time reduction activities to support the company's service and working capital goals.
Writes/updates standard work and policies for all purchasing related activities.
Develops, distributes, and communicates weekly and monthly purchasing reports.
Updates pricing, lead-times, minimum buy quantities and terms in the Material Master file as required.
This includes the annual review of material costs and ensuring new material standards that are set for the following year are accurate.
Supports new product launches by ordering samples, coordinating first article submissions with suppliers, and ensuring material is available for pilot runs.
Works to advance enterprise-wide sourcing programs as appropriate.
Coordinates cost savings projects from floor with Commodity Manager to drive plant cost savings.
Reduces non value added tasks and finds ways to automate as possible.
Drives continuous improvement.
Performs other similar and related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required SkillsEDUCATION:
BS in business or related or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
3-5 years of purchasing experience of progressing responsibility for purchasing and materials control in a manufacturing environment.
SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:
MS Excel, Access, Word, PowerBi, Powerpoint Knowledge of strategic sourcing processes and cost-reduction techniques.
Must be a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization.
Must be able to work independently as well as within a variety of teams.
Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with total landed cost.
Understanding of Inco terms and international trade practices.
Preferred SkillsProfessional Certifications:
ISM or APICS certifications a plus.
