Vehicle Description STK 2870 1969 Chevelle SS The 2nd generation Chevelle SS396 has become one of the most popular muscle cars ever built.
The current owner of this Chevelle has had it for the last 25 years and states that it is a true SS396.
A '69 Chevelle can be a somewhat difficult car to positively identify as a factory SS396 due to the fact that the SS396 was simply an option code (RPO Z25) on the Malibu model, not identified in the VIN sequence as a '138 code' as were previous models.
That said, the engine in this Chevelle is stamped with the matching VIN number including the 'JA' code (unique to the '69 SS396 Chevelle).
Every other SS element of this car also appears to be 100% authentic.
A full restoration has been performed on this beautiful SS396 and the attention to detail is precise.
The body was professionally resprayed in original Dusk Blue (code 51) with a new contrasting black vinyl top and the chrome and stainless pieces are excellent.
All SS396 badging is correct, as are the 14 Chevelle Rally II wheels w/caps that mount BFGoodrich T/A radials.
A custom car cover is also included in the sale.
The interior was reupholstered in black vinyl with bucket seats, console, Muncie shifter and the correct SS396 'pod' gauge package.
A factory AM radio resides in the dash.
The matching numbers 396ci/325hp 'Rat' was totally rebuilt and a mild cam and Edelbrock aluminum intake were added.
A Rochester Quadrajet provides carburation and exhaust is routed through tube-headers to a free-flowing system.
The transmission is a close-ratio M-21 Muncie and a 12-bolt positraction differential is fitted with factory street gearing (probably 3.
31:
1 or similar with the 4-speed).
Power-assisted disc/drum brakes control stopping.
Our Chevelle SS396 is a stunning example of this classic muscle car and will greatly improve the value of your garage.
