Vehicle Description STK 2911 1966 Dodge Charger Dodge 'officially' jumped into the muscle car race with the Coronet Super Bee in 1968.
It was an instant success, mainly because MOPAR had been building performance cars for years, just not marketed them as muscle cars.
This 1966 Dodge Charger 383 is a perfect example of an earlier MOPAR performance machine.
Our fully restored (2016) 1966 Charger is a rare classic, even more noteworthy because of its 383/4-speed drivetrain configuration.
This beautiful Dodge has been with its current owner for the last 14 years.
It has received a professional respray of Bright Red, all original chrome/stainless is in excellent condition and the factory spinner wheel covers are stunning.
Its totally refreshed vinyl interior is also in excellent condition.
There is a full set of factory gauges including tach, wood-grain wheel, console w/pistol-grip Hurst shifter, factory AM radio (currently inop) and plenty of space behind the driver with a folding rear seat.
According to the owner, the 383ci 'B-Wedge' is said to be the numbers-matching engine.
It was rated by Chrysler at 325hp and sits in a spotless engine compartment.
The wedge retains factory components except for an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and Holley 4-barrel carburetor in place of the original Carter.
It is backed by Chrysler's venerable A-833 4-speed manual transmission.
Like many MOPARs of the era the Charger is equipped with manual steering and manual 4-wheel drum brakes.
Hoses, belts, battery and exhaust have all been serviced.
Our Charger strikes a nice stance on factory 14 steel wheels with Vercelli Classic whitewall radials.
This is a rare Dodge - a luxury musclecar and a bona fide classic.
The Charger is correct and impressive.
