Vehicle Description We often talk about the level of craftsmanship in the way things used to be made, but this 1947 Cadillac Series 62 really put it on display.
It's a bare metal classic that has an awesome industrial-style shine.
Plus, with the smooth V8 power and a comfy leather interior, it's easy to drive and show off this unique classic.
It takes a careful eye and patience to get something as unique as this.
About a year ago, the consigner started sanding down the car.
It took five different sessions to make sure this got through the old paint without creating new lines and curves in the body.
The result is a beautiful style that showcases nearly 75 years of exceptional panels.
After all, you'd know if someone rebuilt those rounded fenders out of putty.
And because this is such a labor-intensive process, the whole car was given two coats of clear on top once it was all done.
That way you can seal in the hard work and show off the final product.
In fact, with the quality of the body and the shine of the clearcoat, this one just looks like a metallic silver painted Caddy from far away.
While the body is awesome, the details are impressive, too.
You have the two-piece windshield, three-piece rear window, whitewalls, and rear fender skirts.
The brightwork looks highly original and complete, including the torpedo-like bumper overriders, factory-style wheel covers, and the taillight housings that hint at the tailfin era that was on the horizon.
The interior also received attention within the last year.
More noticeable is the seating.
It has the classic style but is now done in fresh and supple leather.
The door panels, headliner, and carpeting are also quite nice to make for an inviting total package.
There is a beautiful vintage style everywhere from the Cadillac crest on the steering wheel to the AM radio that's still there for display.
The only modern upgrade you might find is that this has been converted to 12-volt power.
That's especially nice with the outlet hidden under the dash.
That way you have a pure vintage look, but you can still charge your cell phone while you're out cruising for the day.
Power comes from Cadillac's famous 346 cubic-inch flathead V8.
This was the motor they created for such durable use that it was also a favorite for tanks in World War II.
This period-correct motor looks exceptionally honest in the engine bay, but it also has received proper attention, including some new seals and a rebuilt carburetor.
It remains a strong runner, and the torque-filled nature knows how to pull this Caddy around with ease.
You even get control over it all with the classic column-shifted three-speed manual transmission.
This Cadillac has a truly unique look and plenty of solid investments all around.
So it's amazing something so distinct and desirable can also be obtained for such a value price.
