For Sale: 1954 Mercury Monterey in Concord, North Carolina for sale in Concord, NC
Vehicle Description STK 3188 1954 Mercury Monterey Mercury produced many versions of their full-size Monterrey model in 1954.
The Custom Sport Coupe was near 'top-trim' with its stylish roof, extensive chrome and subtle rear fins - 1954 to perfection.
This mostly original '54 Monterrey has been the beneficiary of a partial restoration (2015).
The exterior was re-sprayed 2-tone Artic White and Siren Red.
Exterior accents include classic front/rear chrome bumpers, rear fender skirts and 16 Coker wide-white bias tires on steel rims with full wheel covers.
Its interior was refreshed with black and red pleated vinyl and a beautiful dash with factory gauges and aftermarket Optimus AM/FM radio is very easy to enjoy.
Under the hood is a 256ci 'Y-block' - Merc's first OHV V8 engine.
It produced 162hp/238lb/ft of torque and this one appears to be original except for a Rochester 2-barrel carburetor in place of the factory Holley 2140 - a teapot' style carburetor known to be somewhat troublesome.
An electric fuel pump has also been installed.
Torque is transferred to a stock differential by a 3-speed 'Merc-O-Matic' automatic transmission.
The factory 6-volt electrical system performs well and 4-wheel 11 drum brakes provide plenty of stopping power.
This classic Monterrey Sport Coupe is ready for a new owner who will appreciate the unique style of this full-size classic.
